No sound in some games windows 10

Home Discussions Workshop Market Broadcasts. Change language. Install Steam. Hi, The wierdest thing is happening. Everything else on my computer has audio: internet browser, spotify, other games not from Steam, even videos from the Steam store. I started noticing this after the Windows 10 April update. I reinstalled the audio drivers but it didn't work. I reinstalled the Steam client and that didn't work. What I haven't done is restore my PC to the timeline before the April update but I wanted to check here first since it's only happening with Steam games.

Right click the volume thing in windows and click audio settings and then click the additional sound setting thing, called app volume or something?

It lets you pick the output device, could be the issue. EDIT: If you right click the volume icon again and click the top option, can you see game in that list and see that it is making sound?

Go to the speaker icon in the lower right of your screen and right-click the speaker icon and this time select sound. Select the checkbox beside Disable All Enhancements and click Apply and go test if your audio is working. Windows 10 Black Screen of death with cursor after login fix.

So, I first noticed this problem with Dishonored. Started it up and there was just no sound at all. I closed the game to check other programs, youtube etc. Then tried another game, Skyrim, and the sound worked fine with that. I ended up just playing Dishonored on Xbox, so pretty much forgot about this issue, but then today I installed Oblivion and I'm getting the no sound problem there too.

When the launcher menu pops up with "Data Files" and options etc the music plays for that, but as soon as I hit play game and the game itself launches - no sound.

I tried updating some drivers and checking a bunch of sound settings but I'm at a loss now. Anyone had this trouble before, or know what would be causing it? Showing 1 - 10 of 10 comments. What operating system you using? Windows 7. It's a pretty old laptop so I guess something somewhere could definitely be out of date, but I don't know how to check and update everything. I went into device manager and it said the audio drivers were up to date.

I have Windows 10 Pro 64 bit and i have sound. I've tried to update what I can find. Is there some way of fully checking everything and updating it all or would I have to manually go through all of them and go to the manufacturer websites?

I mean like, I went through device manager and into the properties etc but it says they're up to date. Problem is it has been so long, I'm sceptical Seven7 View Profile View Posts. Not always the latest updates - are the best, especially for laptops.

Hello, so here is my problem. Yes, people told me to check my volume mixer and people have told me to reinstall the game, they also told me to do stuff with my audio devices change the settings of them.

However, those options didn't work. So I pretty much ditched that game and now, I've started to branch off into more games. But now however, I'm starting to have no sound in more games, heres a list of 6 games I tested. Showing 1 - 15 of 28 comments. Are you sure your audio driver instal is solid and up to date? Do you have a audio card or just on board audio for your PC? Yep, my audio drivers are solid and up to date and I have just an audio board if thats what you're talking about.

Does the audio cut in and out randomly or is there no sound at all sometimes in some games and perfectly fine audio in other games? Check this list please just to get that out of the way. Pay special attention to antivirus programs please.

It is quite long. There is no sound at all and I disabled my antivirus but there was still no sound. Originally posted by Matter :.

I need help. There are more games that I just haven't discovered that don't have sound. What I think is the problem: I think the problem is I am missing a driver because when I looked in my device manager awhile back there were two drivers for sound drivers, High Definition Audio Device, which I think came with windows or something and Realtek High Definition Audio Device.

Maybe that is the problem? That i'm missing the High Definition Audio Device? This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread. I do have Nahimic and I do see the blue Icon on the bottom left corner, but I've checked through all the sound settings in all of the games and all of them are set to master volume.

If I do go into Nahimic what setting am I looking for? No I do have audio in Spotify, Chrome, and other games but some games don't have audio and all the solutions I tried haven't worked yet. Sorry that was confusing I meant to say I don't have audio at all in some games not a little audio or just music all audio is gone in some games.
